Senior Cricket

Luctonians Cricket Club plays at Mortimer Park and offers arguably some of the best cricket facilities in the county. Originally derived from Kingsland Cricket Club, 1973 saw the amalgamation of the Cricket and Rugby teams playing at Mortimer Park. The cricket section was from then known as Luctonians Cricket Club. The club has grown over the years and currently runs three senior cricket sides in the Marches League.

The senior cricket section has a number of new faces this season with some exciting talent presenting itself at the nets. The First XI will be captained by Andrew Wilmot, the 2nds by young Ben Amos and the 3rds by Nick Byron.

Junior cricket was introduced to the club in the 1980's by Richard Withers and Eric Lane with help and encouragement from the club. Currently the junior section has three sides laying at Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 level. The Under 11 team winning the Western League in 2006 & 2007. The junior cricket section has had a change of management this year with Nick Byron taking on the role as Cricket Development Officer. There is hope that with increased coaching in schools that Luctonians will be able to arrange some "friendly" Under 9 fixtures.

The cricket club continues to develop and in 2005 it became the first club in Herefordshire to be awarded the prestigious Clubmark accreditation. This is a kitemark for cricket clubs who have to achieve certain high standards in all aspects of cricket and club management and is a testimony to the groundwork laid by those before.
