Frame Wise Anglo Welsh U16 Cup

This year the Cup draw included 23 schools. John Beddoes pulled off a last minute victory over Cathedral in the quarter finals and Bishops knocked out Adams Grammar. QE (Bromyard) and Weobley High Schools took on Christ College and Monmouth respectively, and even though they competed bravely they were no match for the pace, skill and game understanding of these more established rugby schools.

Christ College managed to steal a narrow win in the Semi's over Monmouth and Bishops overwhelmed John Beddoes.

It was a typical final in that the committment was total and quality rugby sporadic. Christ College sought territory in the first half but kicked poorly to a solid Matthew Evans at fullback who, invariably got the ball back in front of his forwards so that Bishops could steadily build attacks through the phases. Man of the Match Rory Burke playing No.8 for Bishops ,broke the deadlock on 48 minutes when he crashed over for a try . John Morris converted and then kicked a penalty on 55 minutes to stretch the lead beyond a score. Caleb Thomas rounded of the win with a try in the dying seconds. Morris converted.

Bishops add the Frame Wise Anglo / Welsh Cup Title to the North Midlands U16 Cup that they won a week before.

Many thanks to Jennifer Orrells, Director of Frame Wise Ltd, who presented the trophies to the captains.
