LUCTONIANS SPORTS CLUB CHARITY GROUP
Raising Funds For Good Causes

luctonians-charity-group

The aim of the Charity Group is to select the charities that Luctonians will support each year and to organise fund raising events.

At the Annual General Meeting held in June 2019, we were pleased to announce that the charities for the 2019/20 season would be
Pilgrim BanditsProstate Cancer and The Cart Shed.

We also like to raise funds to improve the facilities at Mortimer Park and last year we were able to raise funds to re-curtain the main clubhouse.

We regularly organise raffles in support of other local charities, and the various community sports which form an integral part of our club.

Most of all though, we want everyone to enjoy the social side of the club, keep in touch with friends and make some new ones too! So we will also be open to suggestions for any events / outings / trips that we can arrange for a social!  Everyone’s busy, so we welcome you, however much time you can give. As soon as COVID allows us out to play again, of course.

LAST SEASON

Clearly last season was drastically shortend by the pandemic but, in the time we had, we did manage to raise funds to support our charities.

On Saturday 28th September 2019
at Lucs in Pink day

WE RAISED £7,293.00
That’s in ONE single day!
for Breast Cancer Haven Hereford
We did, of course have a lot of support from our sponsors

In total, during the shortened 2019/20 season, the club, our players, supporters and members raised

£16,729.00

of this, in addition to the £7,293.00 going to Breast Cancer Haven in Hereford
£2,450.00
went to each of our chosen charities of
Pilgrim Bandits, The Cart Shed , and Luctonians Sports Club

With raffles and collections, we also supported other local community charitable groups, such as
The Leominster Meeting Centre which received £591.07
and the Royal British Legion, Leominster Branch, the collection being conducted by our good friends,
151 Squadron Leominster ATC, raised a wonderful £458.93

Our raffles also supported a number of Luctonians Sports sections, including Cycling, Netball, Junior Netball, Ladies Touch Rugby and the 2020 Under 16 Rugby Tour to South Africa, delivering kit to kids in the deprived townships of Cape Town which, sadly had to be postponed.

Unfortunately, like the South Africa Tour, our fundraising event for Herefordshire Prostate Cancer had to be cancelled, but never fear, we’ll make it up to them somehow.

Our support was not always financial

A great event was HUG A TEDDY AND TAKE IT TO LUCS day
Members and players brought along their Teddies, or other new or used soft toys, to Luctonians Rugby Club and popped them in The Teddy Trust tub, as the simple gift of a teddy to a traumatised child can make all the difference.

We offer our Sincere Thanks to everyone who supported our fund raising efforts
