Overview

Frank is another one of our young backs with a mercurial talent. A product of Lucton School and latterly Hereford Sixth Form, we have seen him develop through the ranks at both Lucs junior age groups and in schoolboy rugby. Twin brother to John, the boys enjoyed their early rugby at the club, before Frank moved on to pursue his rugby at Wyeside. Through our links at the 6th Form and through Norm we kept an eye on him though, and as Frank saw his brother’s rise from Colt to 2nd team standout, to 1st XV regular all in the same season, he decided we wanted to ‘have a bit of that’.
So he re-joined at the start of the 2014/15 season and followed a similar course, regularly lighting up the second team for the majority of last season before getting a handful of games in the premier side, in the latter half of the year. After more hard work in the gym in the off-season Frank has come back this year in much more formidable shape and has been an ever present within the 1st XV squad. He is a great asset for our coaching staff to have as he has a skill set that allows him to cover almost every position across the backline as well as having speed to burn. Built in the frame of a modern-day back (6ft 3 and over 95kg) Frank has all the attributes to become a terrific player. At just 19 he also has time on his side and if he can bring his level of performance to a consistent point week-in, week-out we will have another serious player on our hands.
Away from the game Frank has just started his studies at Manchester University. An example of his commitment is that he is still prepared to get the train down to Leominster every Thursday to attend training before making himself available for games at a weekend. Having had his brother go to New Zealand for a few months he has been in sole use of the mobile phone they share so ‘comms’ have become slightly better with him, although I would recommend anyone who hasn’t to go and have a wee chat with Frank after a game in the bar, a unique experience indeed!!
