Henry is another young player straight off the Luctonians production line. Having joined the club in the junior section and risen through our ranks, he appears to be fulfilling his potential this season having started the opening two games at Blindside Flanker for the premier side. Henry has a lot to live up to within his family after father Gordon captained the 1st XV back in the 80s, before he was even born, but has shown a dogged determination to surpass his old man’s achievements since breaking into the senior ranks three years ago. A major part of the successful 2nd XV over the past two seasons, ‘Monkers’ would be the first to admit his game is not full of finesse, but this is more than made up for by his ability to do the hard graft, that many shirk, relentlessly for 80 minutes. Fiercely loyal and as tough as you like Henry is built in the same mould as many stoic Luctonian farmers before him.
Off the field you may struggle to get much conversation out of Monkers until he has got some drink down his neck. He is well acquainted with the group of young farmers who have come through the club together including Jonny Morris and Will Burton, although he is most comfortable when he is hanging around with his best mate Sam Jones. Whilst Sam has stepped away from playing this season, the two are still inseparable and form the cutest man-crush one could wish for from a pair of strong silent farmer sorts’. Having finished University last year, Henry will now give his full attention to playing matters and we fully expect him to be regularly involved within the 1st XV set up this season.
