Rob is the epitome of what a true Luctonian is. He is home-grown, dedicated and selfless in his efforts to do the best for the club. Starting in our Mini & Junior Section at 15 years old, Crowls has progressed through our set up to play Colts, Knights, Second team and then finally in the 2012/13 season make his 1st XV debut. He has been the Second Team Captain for so long nobody can remember anyone else doing it, which is a fair effort in itself at just 24 years of age. Thankfully because of how we run a fluid senior squad at Lucs, Rob captaining this side does not preclude him from 1st XV selection and he will again skipper the Securcom 2nd XV for the upcoming 2015/16 season.

As a player Rob has always filled any shortfall the team has had, and as such can play in almost every position on the pitch bar the front row and half backs. For not a massive guy, he is a great lineout jumper, as well as a defensive ball of energy that covers a huge amount of ground in a game. His ability has been recognised repeatedly through being awarded the Second Team Player of the Year on at least three occasions, possibly four. Off the field his contribution to helping run the Second Team, with chasing players and sitting in selection meetings goes beyond the average duties of a skipper. Rob also volunteers at any opportunity he can, having helped on the build of the Grandstand, as well as volunteering down here on Sunday mornings with certain age groups and helping out at the Mini Festival. In recognition of his extra efforts he has been nominated for North Midlands Young Volunteer of the Year, and will hopefully win the award next Friday at a presentation evening.
