Overview

Will ‘Hodderz’ Hodnett is mercurial chap who can go from the sublime to the ridiculous. Raised on the Knighton side of the border Will played through the age groups at Lucs as part of the same team that included Mat Hackley, Rob Crowley, Jordan Street and Dan Smith. He was then probably thrust into senior action a bit too soon as an 18 year old back in 2008 and then had to bide his time and be patient as limited opportunities presented themselves until another chance came along after the club were promoted to Level 4. A part of the squad for the first two successful seasons in National 2 North, Will then decided that a change was best to attempt to progress his playing career. Unfortunately his stints with Newport and Ebbw Vale were marred by injuries and Will was left to start rebuilding his playing career back home at Knighton last season. Thankfully he made the decision to come back to his rightful home in the off-season and after a promising pre-season has added to our back three options and latterly centre alternatives, as he did so successfully against Huddersfield. Blessed with a good skill set, deceptive speed and strength, Will has the tools to be an excellent player for Lucs. At just 24, if he can remain injury free, keep his head down and work hard, Will could blossom into a serious talent on our pitches for many years to come.

Off the pitch, what can you say!? He is an estate agent by trade which should make him a smooth talker although I think I would be supported by the entire playing squad when I say his chat is just terrible. A prolific Wedding Crasher and Friend Accumulator, Hodderz is a ‘wannabe’ ladies man who is not very good at this if truth be told. In saying this he is a lover not a fighter and is invariably at the centre of any after match celebrations. We are glad to have him back amongst us, although if Wales do too well in this World Cup this may quickly change!
