Luctonians’ Preferred Charities 2019/20
On 14th June 2019, the Luctonians Sports Club Charity Group announced their preferred charities for the coming season. Last season they raised over £24,000 for the preferred charities, Luctonians Sports Club and held raffles in aid of other local charities.
In 2019, Luctonians Sports Club received The Queens Award for Voluntary Service.
Pilgrim Bandits Charity was established by a small group of Special Forces veterans in 2007 and registered as a charity in 2010, with the sole aim of using their unique training and experience to help and inspire injured personnel to live life to the full. Their primary aim is to help those in need directly, with no compromise. Always a Little Further, Pilgrim Bandits pushes those that have already endured so much to go beyond endurance – to embrace life again and in so doing inspire others.
Located in North Herefordshire, The Cart Shed provides tailored therapeutic support in a woodland setting, helping those experiencing an imbalance in their lives to heal, learn new skills, find friendship and a future. They provide opportunities for communities and individuals experiencing social exclusion through disability, unemployment, age or economic disadvantage and aim to lift the aspirations of people with mental health problems and learning difficulties and those who support them.
Prostate Cancer UK’s top priority is funding research to stop prostate cancer killing men. They’re investing millions to find better treatments and better tests that can spot fast-growing cancers early, and could be used in a screening programme to save thousands of lives. Old friends of ours, Mo Yarwood and her colleagues from the Herefordshire Prostate Cancer Trust visit the club to carry out PSA tests on all comers, every year, on a home game fixture towards the end of the season.
