There is only one place to be on Saturday

Luctonians is #MoreThanJustTwenty

Saturday 12th May – KO 3:00pm
Mortimer Park

LUCTONIANS RFC v SALE FC

National League 2 North

(Extract from Lucsline 10th May 2018)

So this Saturday – does the occasion really need selling to you?

We have nigh on 200 rammed in for the Hobsons Brewery hospitality lunch before the game, our minis are doing their presentations from the pavilion, the victorious RMS Colts are camping out here Friday and will be in fine spirits, whilst we expect a big turn out from the rest of the local community.

We have an inflatable assault course here for the kids, a gourmet burger bar running some of the burgers that will be on offer at the Sundogs Festival, as well as live music in the clubhouse from band Shop Front Heroes immediately following the game.

The game itself, well the scenario is now simple, we must obtain 5 league points by beating the National League 2 North Champions, Sale FC and scoring four tries in the process, nothing else will do. Here are the listings:

Pld W D L PF PA PD TB LB Pts
Wharfedale 30 11 0 19 631 755 -124 7 5 56
Blaydon (R) 30 8 0 22 684 1019 -335 16 5 53
Luctonians 29 9 0 20 619 807 -188 8 8 52
Sheffield (R) 29 7 0 22 465 840 -375 2 7 37

We know the side from Cheshire will be bringing as close to their strongest team as possible so nobody need have ideas that they are coming here to rollover. To stay in this league our lads must beat the best side in the division, but this is Mortimer Park and our lads should believe.

We have won four on the bounce and managed to score four tries at home against top sides in the likes of Hinckley, Stourbridge and Tynedale this season already, and that was when the stakes were much lower and the support smaller than it will inevitably be this Saturday.

However the game turns out you know there will be huge highs and lows – it is the Luctonian way.

Those of us not fortunate enough to be pulling on the shirt this weekend must take our roles seriously however, in maintaining a wall of noise for these boys to feed off. Having been out there in it I can tell you the effect on the players is massive, but let’s not wait for the boys to give us our catalyst, we have a role to play and must be on their shoulders and in their ears from the first whistle to the last.

No matter where you are or what you had planned originally, you just have to get down to Mortimer Park this Saturday. The forecast is for sunshine and the ground will be a picture. It is a 3pm kick off so bring a mate, or 20 and come down and support the players.

Come on you Lucs boys!
